EmpCo Directive against greenwashing: RAL quality marks offer legally compliant guidance
New press release published by RAL
The new EU requirements of the Empowering Consumers Directive (EmpCo) set stricter standards for environmental claims and sustainability labels. Vague terms such as ‘climate neutral’, ‘environmentally friendly’ or ‘green’ as well as company-specific sustainability seals are coming under considerable legal pressure. With the implementation into German law (UWG), many companies now face a concrete need for action.
The latest press release from our umbrella organisation RAL e.V. shows why RAL quality marks offer an EmpCo-compliant solution: they are based on transparent, published quality and testing regulations, independent testing procedures and continuous monitoring. They therefore meet the directive's key requirements for credibility, traceability and independence.
Companies whose previous environmental or sustainability labels will no longer be permitted in future will find a legally compliant and recognised alternative here.
