Recycled windows: New plastic windows with a high proportion of recycled PVC (rPVC)
Plastic windows are durable building products that are in use for 40 years or more. After that, they are not simply disposed of, but are removed, collected, separated according to materials such as PVC, glass and metal, etc., and the PVC is then recycled. The recycled PVC (rPVC) obtained is then reused in the core of new window profiles. This closes the circle.
Promotion of plastic window profiles with high rPVC content
Standard profiles have a recycled content of about 40%. Today it is possible to produce plastic profiles with a higher rPVC content. However, these are custom-made products. As part of the municipal support program "Climate-friendly living and working in Düsseldorf", the RAL Quality Association has established evaluation criteria and a verification procedure in cooperation with the city of Düsseldorf. It enables indow manufacturer and window buyer to select the right profiles.
