Press release: Sustainability award for the flat glass industry

For the first time, the Bundesverband Flachglas (BF) German Flat Glass Association is organising a sustainability award for the flat glass industry. The award is aimed at companies that are characterised by innovative and sustainable approaches.

What solutions does your company use to promote sustainable change? We are looking for projects that make a sustainable contribution to climate protection, save existing resources or make your company CO2-neutral.

Targets of the award

Promoting sustainable innovations: Honor technologies and processes that reduce the industry's environmental footprint.
Raising awareness: sensitising the industry and the public to the importance of sustainability in glass production.
Role model function: Highlighting best practices that can serve as an example for other companies.

Application procedure

Applications can be submitted for the following categories:
•    Company (buildings, properties, resources, etc.)
•    Products (production, packaging, recycling, etc.)
•    Production (reduction of emissions)
•    Special category: Low Budget (small projects can also win in our special category - the focus is on the idea and the benefits)
Submit your application as follows:
•    Name of the project
•    Company name and contact details
•    Summary of the project: outline of the problem, solution approach, the impact already achieved, in which period, communication campaign (max. 2,000 characters incl. spaces)
•    Supplementary documents such as homepage, images and files etc.
Participation is easy. Submit your application by 31 December 2024, by email or post to the Bundesverband Flachglas. All submissions will be evaluated by our expert jury

All companies that are members or sponsoring members of the BF can take part. Participation is free of charge.
 

Award ceremony and outlook

The award will be presented at our Glass Congress on 7 - 8 May 2025 in Dresden, where the winners can present their projects. In the long term, the award is intended to help drive the transformation of the flat glass industry towards greater sustainability and serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices.
This initiative sends out an important signal for the future of the industry and emphasises the growing importance of sustainability in all industrial sectors.
